New Warehouse and Office Facility, Sterling Heights, Michigan
RB Construction built a pre-engineered structural steel building shell, insulated, pre-finished metal siding, roofing and related structural components for the new 50,000 sf. home office and warehouse of Metro Wire & Cable in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
The new facility is composed of 40,000 sf. of warehouse and production area, a 10,000 sf. office area and a 10,000 sf. shop mezzanine area.
The prefabricated steel structure features wide open, high bays with painted exposed structural steel construction above an 8 ft. high perimeter masonry knee wall. Two truck dock wells at opposite ends of the building allow for simultaneous shipping and receiving operations. The office areas house all company executives, a large sales force and several customer service personnel. The interior finishes are composed of carpet, tile and wood accent parquet flooring along with painted gypsum walls and suspended acoustical ceilings. The large break room also serves as a departmental meeting and information area.
The building’s exterior is composed of split face masonry up to a sill height of 8 ft. with pre-finished metal siding above. The roof is composed of “galvalume” metal roofing with pre-finished metal gutters and downspouts.
