Scott AFB , U.S. Property and Fiscal Office, New Pavement and Grounds Facility, St. Clair County, Illinois
This project consisted of a new 8,000 square foot, one story building to serve as a Pavements and Grounds facility. The facility includes office, restroom, locker area, communications and mechanical/electrical areas with a large garage/warehouse area.
The new building has exterior architectural features that are in compliance with the Scott Air Force Base exterior architectural standards. These features included elements such as a 5:12 standing seam metal roof, metal wall panel with concealed fasteners, and masonry and decorative precast concrete accent stone to match other buildings on the base.
Other features of the new building also include energy saving systems such as infrared heating units in the warehouse area, tank less water heater, and a lighting management system with occupancy sensors and timers.
Due to budget constraints this project was turned into a design build. Prior to award the project manager met with the Illinois Air National Guard on numerous occasions to determine what requirements were necessary to provide a complete/usable facility while complying with the Scott Air Force Base architectural standards and most importantly within the project budget. These discussions and negotiations were turned into a final statement of work at which time the A/E completed final construction drawings.
