Temporary Wall Construction, Highland Park, Michigan
RB Construction was contracted to build a 40 ft. high by 600 ft. long temporary exterior wall at Visteon Corporation’s new regional manufacturing facility in Highland Park, Michigan. The wall was to act as a temporary enclosure of the building’s south wall until a subsequently phased 200,000 sf. addition was completed.
The wall was constructed of structural steel columns at 25 ft. on center, inserted between the building’s existing columns along with horizontal steel channels at 7 ft. on center. New pre-finished metal siding was affixed to the structural steel framing. All necessary tie-ins to the roof, floor and end walls were performed to facilitate removal of the wall.
RB Construction’s long standing relationship with the steel supplier resulted in the attainment of two weeks of accelerated schedule delivery, meeting Visteon’s critical milestone date to provide conditioned space for their temperature sensitive equipment and materials.
